When will you be having Deutsche Drahthaar puppies? We will be breeding Figgs and Jujube in the Fall of 2025. We predict our puppies will sell out so please reach out to us to inquire about reserving as soon as possible. We will be releasing how many puppies come back in Jujube's ultrasound and then it's anyone's game!

How do I learn more about buying a puppy? We plan to open a reservation system once we confirm our litter count. Very limited availability so if you have any interest, it'd be best to reach out to us as soon as possible to apply and reserve your puppy. Reservations close July 2025. I've never bought a puppy before, what's the process?First you reach out to us to get yourself on our radar and in line for reserving. (We may open up deposits prior to ultrasounds, depending on demand.) Next, in Autumn of 2025 we will have an ultrasound letting us know how many puppies we're having, and we send an email out to the top most interested people (up to 8 usually! Fingers crossed!) and at that point it's first come first serve. You put a small, fully refundable, deposit down on a puppy. Once the puppies are born photos and demeanor will be shared with those who have reserved properly. Full payment of your new best friend is due upon pick up.

What's the difference between German Shorthaired Pointers (GSP) and Deutsch Drahthaars?German Shorthaired Pointers (GSPs) and Drahthaars are both versatile hunting breeds. "Deutsch Drahthaar" is a separate breed and in German translates to "German Wirehaired." GSPs, the North American lineage, are known for their high energy levels, sleek coat, and friendly, outgoing nature. They tend to be easier to train for obedience and basic commands due to their eagerness to please and relatively high intelligence. Deutsch Drahthaars, often referred to as German Wirehaired Pointers in the U.S., have a wiry coat and are bred to be more rugged and durable in harsh hunting conditions. They generally require a sharper focused training due to their strong-willed and independent nature. At Autumn's Harvest Kennel we train any kind of dog, but we do work with a lot of GSPs, plus Drahthaars, and focus the training to suit the specific needs of each breed. For GSPs, we focus on harnessing their energy through consistent exercise and mental stimulation. For Drahthaars, our approach emphasizes establishing clear leadership and providing challenging, goal-oriented tasks to maintain their focus and prevent boredom. Understanding these differences ensures that our training methods bring out the best in each dog, enhancing their abilities as reliable companions and hunting partners.
